Chris Hughes can’t wait for the Virtual Grand National in his latest Sun Racing column

I’ve always loved confectionery but there’d be no sweeter result than seeing Kimberlite Candy land the Virtual Grand National.

He’s a big bullock of a horse who should have no problem with the fences – even if they are computer-generated!

Sun Racing ambassador Chris Hughes is back with his best bet for the Virtual Grand National

The Grand National is one of my favourite races of the year and although we’re not treated to the real thing this time around, the Virtual edition is a pretty good replacement.

Inspired Entertainment have done a cracking job to get it on, and if you haven’t watched it in the past then you’re in for a treat.

The race is the same length as the real thing, it has the same horses and the same famous fences.

Algorithms created by the simulator take into account all the form – so you can be sure the result will be fairly accurate.

In the last three years ITV have put it on, the result has been almost bang on.

That means if Kimberlite Candy wins, he probably would have won the real thing!

The green and gold silks have done very well in the big race in the past and it would be fitting to see some familiarity in these uncertain times.

I’ve been trying to keep myself entertained during this crisis as there’s no sport of any kind on TV, and the Virtual Grand National is a brilliant move.

Chris has been a huge fan of racing since he was very young

It gives punters and racing fans alike the chance to get involved in the greatest race on turf and with all profits going to charity, it leaves a good taste in the mouth too.

I’ll be watching from the comfort of my sofa, hoping for a sweet result.

Make sure you are as well!
