Dan Skelton preparing exciting Maire Banrigh for Grade 1 assignment

MIGHTY mare Maire Banrigh is a chaser going places.

Dan Skeltons lightly-raced jumping whizz has impressed with two clear-cut victories in novice events and her trainer reckons she has a big future.

Maire Banrigh has a big future over fences

A winner last time at Warwick, she got the better of crack hurdler Thomas Darby – and Grade 1 contests are now on the horizon.

Skelton said: She was really good at Warwick.

Ill give her entries all through December and she may step up to Grade 1 company in the Henry VIII novice at Sandown.

Theres also a mares race at Exeter and a Grade 2 novices chase at Kempton the day after Boxing Day, so she has plenty of options.

Skelton also had news on another of his many smart novices, Ardlethen.
The six-year-old got the better of the classy Lisnagar Oscar on chasing debut before losing out to the classy Sam Spinner at Wetherby next time.

He retains bags of potential and Skeltons now targeting the Ladbrokes Winter Festival as his next port of call.

The trainer said: Ardlethen comes goes to Newbury next Saturday for the 3m Grade 2 novices chase.

I didnt work him at Newbury on Tuesday but hes in good form.

His last run worked out well so fingers crossed he can continue to improve.
