David Egan raring to go ahead of £15 million Saudi Cup bid on record-chasing Mishriff

DAVID EGAN insists Mishriff is happy to be back in Riyadh and raring to go ahead of Saturday’s £15million Saudi Cup bid.

John Gosden’s superstar will become the highest-earning horse of all time if he lands back-to-back wins in the Group 1.

Trainer John Gosden has his ace primed for the Saudi Cup

Egan said: “I can tell Mishriff knows he’s back here and loving it.

“He’s like an old hand and knows what he’s here for. He’s just a proper pro now and takes everything in his stride.”

That powerful stride has helped monster Mishriff win seven of his 14 races and bank over £11million.

And victory in the one-mile-one-furlong feature on dirt at the glittering King Abdulaziz Racecourse will see him roar past all-conquering Aussie

Winx who won £14million in her career before retiring in 2019.

Mishriff is running in Riyadh for the third year on the trot.

Now a five-year-old he was second in the Saudi Derby in 2020 before hitting the bullseye for Egan in the world’s richest race last season.

He has also won the Sheema Classic in Dubai as well as thundering to a six-length win in last season’s Juddmonte at York.

Egan, 22, said: “There is no doubt he has an advantage over his rivals here in Riyadh as he knows the track and the surface.

“He’s been here twice whereas most of those he will be racing against at the weekend are here for the first time. I think that will be a big help.

“His prep has gone well and now we hope things go as well in the race.

“For me personally, he is the horse who has made me and it is fantastic to be back here at the scene of our biggest win. We are both raring to go.”

Coral make Mishriff 11-4 favourite with American ace Mandaloun 7-2. Saeed Bin Suroor’s Real World is a 9-1 shot.
