Dramatic moment horse somersaults through fence before landing on jockey Richard Condon in horror Tramore fall

THIS is the dramatic moment a horse somersaults through a fence before landing on his jockey in a shocking fall at Tramore.

These amazing photos capture 33-1 shot Tongie come crashing down in what one commentator called an ‘X-rated’ fall on New Year’s Day.

The jockey was also sent flying in the final-fence flashpoint

Both jockey and horse were fortunate to escape unhurt

The horse then landed on top of his rider

The Peter Fahey-trained runner was leading four from home in the 2m 5f Tom Carroll Memorial Handicap Chase in Ireland.

But the soft going ultimately got the better of the 11-year-old as he approached the final flight in second place.

And Tongie – who last won at Gowran Park almost two years ago – went head-first over the fence.

He landed on his head as his hind legs flung up into the air behind him.

Jockey Richard Condon came crashing down too and the horse landed on top of him as he hit the deck.

Fortunately, both got to their feet and commentators confirmed they were OK after the flashpoint, with Condon even booked to ride on Saturday.

One fan watching at home tweeted their shock at the fall.

They said: “Tongie and Richard up, that looked awful!”

The race was eventually won by 14-1 chance Whoyakodding, who got up ahead of 25-1 shot Turndownthevolume.

The contest as a whole was full of drama, with 6-1 Macho Mover also falling at the 12th of the 15 fences.

Three horses were also pulled up, including the even money favourite Presenting Point.

Meanwhile, Al Boum Photo warmed up for his bid at a third straight Cheltenham Gold Cup by winning earlier in the day.
