Enable to sidestep York in favour of Kempton as prep race for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

ENABLE will sidestep a potential clash with Love at York and instead head to Kempton.

The wonder mare will use the September Stakes as her Arc prep – the same route she took when successful in Paris two years ago.

Now a six-year-old, she was kept in training to try and win a third Arc, something which has never been achieved.

She was second behind Ghaiyyath in the Coral-Eclipse first-time-out but bounced back to her best with a facile King George victory last month.

John Gosden had previously earmarked the Yorkshire Oaks as her likely final stepping stone to Longchamp.

But connections have cooled on the idea of taking on runaway Oaks winner Love just over a month before her main target of the year.

In a statement, owner Khalid Abdullah’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said: “Prince Khalid has decided that Enable’s next start will be the September Stakes Group 3 at Kempton on September 5.

“As has been stated, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Group 1 remains her main objective.”
