Horse Racing

Fancy winning a racehorse? Well here’s your chance in raffle with jockey Hayley Turner and trainer James Ferguson

NEVER look a gift horse in the mouth,  especially if you can win one for Christmas.

That’s the message from ace jockey Hayley Turner and top trainer James Ferguson who have teamed up to offer a cracker of a raffle prize as they aim to raise money for Racing Welfare.

The raffle winner gets sole ownership of a racehorse to run in their own silks and be trained by Ferguson for next year’s Flat season.

All training fees are covered and the winner will also get to name the well-bred two-year-old  filly, a half-sister to Group 3 winner Good Vibes.

It’s all part of a festive initiative by Racehorse Lotto and Newmarket trainer Ferguson said: “The filly could be a star. She’s speedily bred and certainly looks the part.”

Turner said: “This is exactly the kind of thing racing  needs at the moment. It gets people excited, optimistic and involved in racing.

“It will also  raise money for Racing Welfare who do such fabulous work.

“She looks a beautiful filly and I can’t wait to start riding her out over the winter and then in her races.”

Hugh O’Donnell, founder and CEO of Furlong Gaming,  parent company of Racehorse Lotto, said: “We spent all summer looking for the right horse to wrap up as our Christmas Raffle prize and I think we’ve found a cracker.

“It’s great to have Hayley and James on board and it’s very exciting. Whoever wins the horse will be in for an amazing ride in 2021.

“The raffle tickets are just £10 — with 20 per cent of that going to Racing Welfare.”
