Fire engines and ambulances rush to Hamilton racecourse after cameramen fall from cherry picker onto van

EMERGENCY services have rushed to Hamilton Racecourse after two camera crew fell from a cherry picker onto a van.

The racing has been delayed at the Scottish track while an ambulance crew and firemen attend the scene.

Racing TV have reported the incident has caused a delay at Hamilton

The first race was due off at 2.15pm but has been pushed back to at least 3.15pm.

The camera operators are reported to have tumbled from their elevated position onto a RaceTech van.

Racing TV are on course to present the action.

And their man Graham Cunningham tweeted: “Delay to racing here at Hamilton. A couple of the camera crew have fallen from the cherry picker basket onto the roof of the Racetech truck.

“Emergency services are on the grounds so fingers crossed.”

He soon added: “Delay to racing now set to be at least an hour but that’s academic.

“Prayers up for the two chaps involved. Police, two ambulances and fire engines all on site.

Clerk of the course Harriet Graham said: “The first race has been delayed because of an incident on the racecourse.”

The accident happened half an hour before the opener as the crew prepared for live action.

The cherry picker was on the home straight that shows the head-on shots as the race comes to a finish.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) tweeted: “Further delay due to incident on course.

“The first race will not take place at 2.45 as previously announced. Updates will follow.”
