Hi, what are you looking for?

Horse Racing

Football is cancelled but horse racing means the sporting show carries on

With all football cancelled, no rugby on the screens and people everywhere up corona creek without a paddle, horse racing has come to the rescue!

So whether you’re a footy, rugby, tennis or golf fan looking for a sporting entertainment replacement, pull up a pew and Sun Racing will guide you through.

Horse racing is the only sport on show over the weekend

Saturday’s only sporting outlet comes from Thurles in Ireland, as seven races take centre stage over the jumps.

And with every man and his dog waiting at home for a sporting fix, ITV4 has said ‘no thank-you’ to Covid-19 and will transmit the action LIVE from 1.40-3.40 on Saturday afternoon.

So turn off those Italia ‘90 replays and get involved in some real weekend sport.

It may not be the Cheltenham Festival, but it’s sure to be thrilling and competitive in equal measure.

With no football, footy fans can instead switch their attention to horse racing

For footy fans used to 90 minutes of hair-raising action, this is something totally different – the races will come thick and fast, it’s end-to-end from start to finish and there’s sure to be a heart-in-the-mouth moment or two along the way.

So, what of the racing itself?

Tipperary’s home ground plays host to some top class fare, with a Grade 3 Novice Chase – a Europa League-level contest – the leading light of the afternoon.

There are only nine runners in the contest but it’s tricky enough, and what you need to look out for is a horse who can jump well.

The sun will be shining bright on Thurles on Saturday

That might be obvious, but in novice chases – which are essentially races over fences for beginners – you want a horse who’s not going to make a horlicks of one down the back straight.

Therefore the experienced SIZING POTTSIE should be where you put your money.

He’s won his last two races over fences in fine style and his trainer knows the time of day.

Sun Racing’s chief tipster Templegate has run his eye over the full card and reckons there are some other horses with big chances – so head there now and check out his unmissable thoughts!

Lastly, all that needs to be said is….thank you Thurles!
