From the Saddle to the Wheel
Noel Callow, a former top jockey who won £22 million throughout his career, has recently made a surprising career change as an Uber driver.
A Career Change after a Ban
After facing a three-month suspension and a £2,500 fine for placing bets on horses, Callow decided to explore new opportunities. He has now become familiar with a different type of horsepower, as he navigates the streets as a taxi driver.
Finding Joy Behind the Wheel
Although Callow has achieved great success in his previous career, he has found a new sense of joy in his role as an Uber driver. He shared, "You meet some interesting people and I really enjoy doing it."
A Successful Career in Racing
During his time as a jockey, Callow won five Group 1 races and found success in various locations such as Singapore, Macau, and Mauritius. However, he was not able to secure a ride in the recent Melbourne Cup.
Keeping Busy on the Road
Despite not participating in the famous race, Callow remains occupied as an Uber driver. He humorously remarked, "I'm Brad Pitt in Asia and I'm armpit in Australia" to describe his current demand as a jockey.
On a recent day, Callow even managed to pick up a fare and drive a passenger from the Gold Coast to Brisbane before winning a race at Doomben.
