Frankie Dettori Faces Backlash from Trainer After Disappointing Second-Last Finish at Bro Park

, Frankie Dettori Faces Backlash from Trainer After Disappointing Second-Last Finish at Bro Park

Hansen Left "Gutted" by Dettori's Performance

A top horse trainer, Annike Bye Hansen, has expressed her disappointment and frustration with jockey Frankie Dettori after he finished second-last in a race at Bro Park in Stockholm. Hansen, who had high hopes for a victory, described Dettori's ride as "horrible" and was left "gutted" by the outcome.

A Bumpy Ride on Hard One To Please

Dettori's global retirement tour made a stop at Bro Park, where he took part in the Lanwades Stud Stakes. He celebrated a win in the race on 8-1 Takeko, but it was the Group 3 Stockholm Cup that Hansen and Dettori had their sights set on. However, their hopes quickly diminished, as Dettori admitted to a "horrible" ride on 11-4 chance, Hard One To Please.

A Pivot in Dettori's Performance

Hard One To Please, who had been the winner of the Stockholm Cup the previous year, performed poorly this time around. Dettori acknowledged his mistake, admitting that he had failed to provide the necessary cover for the horse. As a result, Hard One To Please weakened and finished eight lengths behind the winner, Espen Hill.

Dettori's apology was not enough to appease Hansen, who aired her grievances on the Nick Luck podcast. She criticized his riding in the Stockholm Cup, but did give credit where it was due for his subsequent victory on her filly in the following race.

A Noteworthy Global Tour

Dettori's retirement tour will take him to various international destinations, including the US, Australia, and Hong Kong, following his races in Britain. After he concludes his racing career at Ascot on October 21, Dettori plans to embark on his travels with his wife, Catherine, while renting out his Newmarket mansion for a staggering £15,000 per month.
