Frankie Dettori in the money again as Campanelle wins Group 1 Prix Morny in style for Wesley Ward at Deauville

ANOTHER weekend, another Frankie Dettori winner in France.

This time Wesley Ward’s Campanelle (17-10f) provided the Italian with another big pay day in the Group 1 Prix Morny.

Ward’s unbeaten filly runs in the same colours as superstar Lady Aurelia

For the second weekend in a row, Dettori’s decision to skip York for riches in France paid off in style.

After Palace Pier and Mishriff, Campanelle was his latest partner to bring home the euros.

Stepping up to six furlongs from her Queen Mary win at Royal Ascot, Ward’s filly made all to go three from three, seeing off Clive Cox’s Nando Parrado by two lengths.

Richard Fahey’s Rhythm Master was third with the Queen’s Tactical out of the places.

Dettori smiled: “She’s not like Lady Aurelia, she’s grown since Ascot, she’s got an amazing long stride.

“Wesley was very confident today and she’ll be even better on quicker ground. Her class came through today.

“She’s half-alseep in the box but when she comes out on the track she knows exactly what she has to do.

“Wesley is a master with these horses. I’m sure we’ll look at the Cheveley Park at Newmarket, and then of course there’s the Breeders’ Cup too.”

Coral made Campanelle the 7-1 favourite for next season’s Commonwealth Cup at Ascot.
