Hi, what are you looking for?

Horse Racing

Frankie Dettori on the ONE horse he wishes he could ride and best chances for day two of Glorious Goodwood

IF there’s one horse I’d love to ride it’s Baaeed.

I know I’ll never get the chance, but I can still dream!

Dettori is looking for some more winners on day two of Goodwood

I got pretty close to him in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Palace Pier last year, but he looks like he has come on even more this season.

He’s the best horse in the world and this sport needs superstars.

For that reason, even though I’m riding against him, I hope he puts on a show this afternoon.

If he runs anywhere near his best the rest of us are playing for places.

I ride ANGEL BLEU (3.35) for the in-form Ralph Beckett and my good friend Marc Chan.

I think we’d prefer a bit more juice in the ground, but he won on quick ground as a two-year-old and he handles Goodwood having won the Vintage Stakes here last year.

He was too fresh in the St James’s Palace at Ascot last time out, and ran pretty well when third behind Perfect Power and Lusail in the Greenham.

Like last year, I’m hoping the more he runs the better he gets, so fingers crossed he can take a step forward again and I can get him in the first three.

I’m very pleased to pick up the ride on the French filly SAMAHRAM (2.25) in the Oak Tree Stakes.

I’m drawn OK, five of 17, which is very important with a big field like this over the seven furlongs at Goodwood.

Francis-Henri Graffard is a good trainer, and he wouldn’t be sending one over to Goodwood just because he wants a walk on the Downs, so she needs to be taken seriously.

NATASHA (4.10) could be my best chance of the day in the Fillies’ Handicap.

She ran very well at Yarmouth last time and is a nice, improving filly.

I last rode her on heavy ground in the Prix Marcel Boussac on heavy ground back in October, and she hated it, so I’m pleased we’re back on a sounder surface.

I haven’t got a banker today, but I think she’s a nice chance.

WILD LION (5.20) looks a nice horse in the World Pool Handicap, but it won’t be easy from stall 15.

From there, we’ll probably have to drop in and ride our luck a little bit.
