Frankie Dettori to ride in the silks of charity lotto winner as racing raises money for NHS

RACING is doing it’s bit to raise money in the fight against coronavirus with the Frankie Dettori Raffle.

Entries cost £2 and the winner will be an owner of a Flat horse for a day – with Dettori set to ride in their colours.

All proceeds from the competition, run by the newly-launched Racehorse Lotto and supported by Racing Breaks, will go to the Charities Together COVID-19 Appeal.

Not only will the winner get the services of Dettori, but they will get to create and register their own silks for the horse to carry, and be issued with four owners’ and trainers’ badges. The horse will contest one Flat race in 2021.

Dettori, said: “It will be an absolute pleasure to ride for whoever wins this amazing competition.

“It’s a brilliant initiative which I’m delighted to support and I hope that we can raise plenty of money for our heroes at the NHS, while also providing one lucky winner with the ultimate experience of racehorse ownership for the day.”

The prize also includes a two-night stay in a luxury Newmarket hotel, a tour of the gallops and a stable in Newmarket and a champagne afternoon tea and tour at the luxurious Jockey Club Rooms.

The raffle is open from today and the winner will be announced by Dettori himself on Monday.

Hugh O’Donnell, CEO of Furlong Gaming, the parent company of Racehorse Lotto, said: “We’re very excited to be launching the Frankie Dettori Raffle. Not only does it give people the chance to win a truly unforgettable experience, we’re also hoping to have a major positive impact on fundraising for the Charities Together COVID-19 Appeal.

“A huge thanks has to firstly go to Frankie for agreeing to not only ride the winner’s horse for the day, but also for throwing his all-round support behind this initiative, as well as Racing Breaks who are providing key parts of an unbelievable prize.”
