Dettori Pulls Out of Listowel Race
Frankie Dettori, the world's most famous jockey, has decided not to race in Ireland after a disagreement over his payment.
A Missed Opportunity for Listowel
Dettori, who had been a huge success at Bellewstown earlier this year, was expected to participate in the Listowel race as part of his global farewell tour. However, the disagreement over his fee has led to his withdrawal from the event.
A Failed Agreement
According to former racecourse boss Pat Healy, a fee was agreed upon between Dettori and the track last year. However, the jockey was seeking a higher payment this year, leading to the breakdown of the agreement.
Disappointment for Fans
Healy expressed his disappointment, stating, "It's unfortunate, but if I'm to be honest, Frankie had one price and we had another price which we agreed upon last year…Unfortunately, we couldn't meet in the middle, so that's why Frankie won't be coming to Listowel."
Continuing Success for Dettori
Despite the setback, Dettori has been enjoying a remarkable season in the saddle. He recently achieved a significant victory in Hungary and has races lined up in France, Australia, and Hong Kong. His final race in Britain will take place on October 21 at Ascot on Champions Day.
Looking Ahead to Retirement
After retiring, Dettori plans to pursue a career in TV. Additionally, he will be renting out his impressive Newmarket mansion for £15,000 a month.
