Goodwood Ladies’ Day kicks off in style with thigh-flashing dresses and show-stopping hats

IT’S one of the most glamorous events in the racing calendar each year – and the Ladies’ Day at Glorious Goodwood Festival definitely hasn’t disappointed.

As the action got underway at the annual event in West Sussex, lucky ticket holders arrived to soak up the atmosphere and they brought their A-game when it comes to their glitzy outfits.

The headpieces were on point

Despite the up and down weather, the women soaked up what little sun came out in their colourful summery outfits while watching some of the jockeys ride to victory.

Entering the grounds on 3 August, a group of five friends were snapped posing in their best dresses, all opting for different colours.

One wore a mustard yellow dress with a plunging neckline, which she teamed with a black hat.

Another donned a pink strapless number with a thigh-high split, while a third wore a red off-the-shoulder dress for the occasion.

A fourth opted for a pale yellow dress while one person went all out in pink, red, green and yellow.

It wasn’t just the incredible gowns that left people stopping in their tracks though as the head ware game was also on point.

A duo, who both donned bright yellow dresses, entered the grounds with incredible headpieces on.

While one had an assortment of yellow roses coming out of her hat, the other had a sun-shaped fascinator with rays that came out of it.

Continuing in the yellow theme, another woman who wore an off-the-shoulder dress had a matching fascinator made up of feathers.

One beauty, who donned a Gingham blue dress with a red belt, sported a fascinator with a large cherry on it.

A common theme running throughout the outfits worn at the festival were thigh-high splits.

One stunning raven-haired woman could be seen wearing a half-caped nude dress with the show-stopping feature of a thigh-high split as she made her way through the grounds.

While another brunette beauty donned a cut-out, multicoloured red gown also had a split, showing off her toned legs, as she posed with her pals.

Some women, however, opted for more modest looks as one person dressed in a pink dress with three-quarter sleeves.

While another wore a knee-length number with a pink jacket on top, which she paired with trainers and an umbrella.

As in previous years, attendees need to stick to a few basic dress code rules for Glorious Goodwood.

While men are required to wear a jacket and tie, women must go for a “garden party look”.

On the website, they say: “A floaty or floral dress, an elegant top and trouser/skirt combination that is suitable for England in summer.”

They also recommended leaving the stiletto heels at home as the uneven ground can be “tricky to walk on”.

The only clothing not permitted at the festival’s Richmond Enclosure, meanwhile, is shorts.
