GOSHEN was found to be suffering from a ‘rare’ irregular heartbeat after his ‘completely wrong’ Cheltenham flop.

Gary Moore’s superstar went off 6-4 favourite for Saturday’s Unibet International Hurdle but finished dead last.

Goshen was found to have an irregular heartbeat after finishing last in the Unibet Hurdle

Jamie Moore was looking for redemption after his heartbreaking last-flight fall on Gold Cup day in March.

But the four-year-old never travelled as 6-1 chance Song For Someone beat 10-1 shot Silver Streak by a nose in the Grade 2 2m 1f race.

Trainer Moore insisted Goshen is fine this morning and that he has not been ruled out for the rest of the season.

But they will monitor the heart situation – known as ‘atrial fibrillation’ – and hope for a quick recovery.

An irregular heartbeat has previously affected legendary horses such as Paisley Park and Sprinter Sacre.

Moore told Racing TV: “He’s absolutely fine this morning. My vet is coming in this morning to check him out but I know no more than that.

“I have been training a long time and this is the third or fourth time it has happened to me.

“I will give him a bit of time, time heals everything. We’ll take it from there.

“Unless you look into it more… he seems fine, you wouldn’t know there’s a problem with him.

“To be quite honest it was a mess of a race yesterday. The first two hurdles had gone and the horse was always overracing.

“There was a lot of disappointment from yesterday but we learned one thing – don’t restrain the horse, let him use his stride.

“He is a little bit different, he doesn’t like being crowded.

Goshen memorably unseated jockey Moore at Cheltenham Festival

“Yesterday we have been trying to hold him up rather than let him use his stride because horses don’t always last all the time if they’re out there making the running.

“We tried to hold him up yesterday and it was the complete wrong thing to do.”

Moore insists they will take Goshen’s health a day at a time now – but refused to scrap the rest of the season.

He added: “I’ll see how he his and then we’ll take it from there but we definitely won’t write him off for the rest of the season.”
