I know it’s a tiny gesture of no significance, but delighted this stable can add its voice to the worldwide tumult of support for Ukraine by running #TurnOfPhrase in yellow & blue (albeit halved vertically, as that’s what I have, my late parents’ colours) @WolvesRaces tonight. pic.twitter.com/ufG35r9x1H

Berry posted a photo of the five-year-old mare with the message: “I know it’s a tiny gesture of no significance, but delighted this stable can add its voice to the worldwide tumult of support for Ukraine by running #TurnOfPhrase in yellow & blue (albeit halved vertically, as that’s what I have, my late parents’ colours) @WolvesRaces tonight.”
While Emma Berry posted a photo of the silks with the caption: “Turn Of Phrase has a colour change today and will be running in the colours of Ukraine. It is a symbol of support.”
Turn Of Phrase runs in the 1m4f race at 7.30pm tonight.
The horse is a general 16-1 shot but could come in for a surge of support now word is out about the jockey’s colours.
Promising rider Faye McManoman is in the saddle.
Punters were quick to praise the pair for their support of Ukraine under its bombardment by Russia.
Vladimir Putin is said to have authorised the carpet-bombing of civilians as frustration with his planned invasion grows.
One racing fan said: “A lovely gesture, good luck.”
Another commented: “That’s an incredible thought, well done.”
A fellow punter posted: “Would be fantastic if she won in those colours.”
While another said: “What a lovely, lovely touch.”
Emma also linked to the Red Cross’ Ukraine Crisis Appeal and urged punters to donate there.
