RACING is set to start with a bang in France on Monday thanks to an all-star cast.

A host of Group 1 horses, including Andre Fabre’s unbeaten Earthlight, feature among the entries for Longchamp.

Middle Park hero Earthlight could run at Longchamp next week

Paris police yesterday gave France Galop the green light to resume the sport on 11 May, and the track is set to stage a mouthwatering card.

Earthlight and stablemate Victor Ludorum are among 12 possible runners for the Group 3 Prix de Fontainebleau over a mile.

The former won both the Prix Morny and Middle Park last season, while Victor Ludorum maintained his unbeaten record in the Jean-Luc Lagardere on Arc day.

Jean-Claude Rouget’s French Derby hero Sottsass was last sighted running an excellent third behind Waldgeist in the Arc in October.

He has been entered alongside 12 others in the Group 2 Prix d’Harcourt over 1m2f.

The other Group race on the card, the Prix de Saint-Georges, has attracted 15 entries, among them Pascal Bary’s speedster Gold Vibe.

France Galop chief Edouard de Rothschild revealed the news on Twitter that they had been given the all clear by the authorities.

He said: “We obtained and received from the Prefecture of Police in Paris authorisation to resume racing on May 11. This is great news and a real victory!”
