Impressive Dream Of Dreams delivers on the big stage with poignant victory in Hungerford Stakes

SO often the bridesmaid, Dream Of Dreams was the star of the show in no uncertain terms in the Hungerford Stakes.

The hugely-talented six-year-old spreadeagled a good field in the Group 2 to deliver a poignant success for Sir Michael Stoute.

Dream Of Dreams bolted up in the Hungerford Stakes

The legendary trainer sadly lost his partner Coral Pritchard Gordon earlier this week.

And Dream Of Dreams, who has long threatened to make the breakthrough in a big race, read the script and delivered in emphatically.

Having been off since finishing a narrow second in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot for the second year in a row, champion jockey Oisin Murphy managed to get the 13-8 favourite into a lovely rhythm early doors.

The gelding was still tanking approaching the final couple of furlongs, where he virtually pulled his way to the front, and once shaken up he quickly put daylight between himself and the rest.

Breathtaking Look (17-2) held on for second, with Symbolize (9-1) back in third, but this was a one horse race.
