Incredible coincidence as punter wins £17K off a fiver… on same day and at same racecourse another lands £60K jackpot

A LUCKY horse racing punter won £17,000 off a £5 stake – on the same day and at the same racecourse another bettor landed a £60,000 jackpot.

The incredible coincidence took place on New Year’s Day.

The two winning bet slips – albeit with different odds from different bookies – resulted in massive payouts from the same races on the same tracks on the same day

Both punters took their chances on horses running at Musselburgh course in Scotland.

And the astonishing similarities don’t end their, with the shrewd stakers backing four of the same horses – which included a 22-1 shot.

SunSport told you how one of the bettors landed £60,000 after picking five winners.

They did a 50p each way Lucky 31 – which meant they staked £62 in all.

Although that meant a bigger return, the other punter actually landed the bigger bet from his accumulator.

They beat odds of 3,418-1 to land the mega windfall.

This is how both bets went down…

Both backed Navajo Pass to win the 1.20. The punter who won with Paddy Power got odds of 11-1 while the other got 8-1 with Coral.

That horse obliged with an easy nine-length win.

Next came the crucial part of both betslips.

Amazingly, they each picked 22-1 outsider Blakeney Pount – ridden by champion jockey Brian Hughes – to win.

The horse prevailed by a neck in a dramatic photo finish and the bets rolled on.

Eagle Ridge was a 7-2 winner for the Paddy customer in the 2.30, while the Coral bettor got worse odds of 10-3.

And they both got 13-2 chance Romain De Senam in the 3.05 – landing each a mega payday.

The only difference on the betslip was the Coral punter going for 10-1 Bullion Boss as well, who won the 3.35.

The Paddy Power punter is based in Birmingham while the Coral user placed their bet from Farnborough in Hampshire.

Given the races took place in the space of just over two hours, the two punters rinsed the bookies for around £38,500 an hour in all.

This big payout comes hot on the heels of a number of punters celebrating a £173,000 win after a 1,000-1 no-hoper surged home.
