IT may be lacking in numbers, but the Investec Oaks at Epsom is not missing any star quality as eight runners were declared.
The big two – Frankly Darling and Love – are the ones they have to beat, but a few lively outsiders are looking to make a name for themselves too.
Aidan O’Brien’s 1000 Guineas winner Love is the warm favourite and the trainer also runs Passion and Ennistymon.
John Gosden’s Frankly Darling has improved by the bucket load and ran out an impressive winner of the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot. She will be partnered by Frankie Dettori. Gosden also runs Tiempo Vuela, with Martin Harley booked to ride.
Roger Varian surprsiningly runs two in Gold Wand and Queen Daenerys. Oisin Murphy has been booked to ride Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Bathrani Star.
