It’s the first Ladies Day at Aintree since 2019 and the glam guests are making up for lost time

LADIES Day kicked off in style at Aintree today, and after the three year wait since the last one, the guests are lining up to show off their pedigree.

As usual there were fashion triumphs, glossy manes and striking hats galore at one of Britain’s most anticipated race meetings.

It wouldn’t be the races without some statement hats and this is our favourite so far

The key day in the racing calendar is often referred to as “Fabulous Friday” due to the turnout of well groomed women who descend on the event.

This year was no different with the second day of the Grand National seeing hoards of people dressed up to the nines.

It was bright colours all round as women clustered together in a flurry of reds, oranges, greens and blues.

The most eye-catching outfit spotted so far was a vibrant pink and blue dress with matching cuffs and a huge curling fascinator.

Of particular note was a bright and bold yellow suit with a matching hat, paired with sky-high green stilettos.

As always the hats didn’t disappoint with fascinators and head pieces in every shape and size on display.

Some of the ladies went for perfectly matched headware while others contrasted their accessories with the colour of their outfits.

Around 150,000 revellers are expected to flock to the four-and-a-half mile steeplechase, with an estimated worldwide TV audience of 600 million people watching from afar.

On Thursday the event kicked off in style, with glammed up women enjoying fizz as they cheered on the jockeys.

According to the Jockey Club, which owns the racecourse, there is “no official dress code”, but “smart is preferable and is often adopted”.

“Aintree is a spectacle of colour throughout the year, with many using their trip to the racecourse as an opportunity to showcase their favourite raceday outfits,” a statement read.

“Hats are optional too, but are frequently worn.
