TOP jumps jockey Adrian Heskin is set for a spell on the sidelines after breaking his arm.
The Irishman took a nasty fall at Market Rasen on Thursday and is due to have it operated on today.
Heskin was partnering the Tim Vaughan-trained Dadsintrouble when he unseated two hurdles from home.
And it means he will miss the ride on Keeper Hill in Saturday’s Grade 1 Betfair Chase.
Jonjo O’Neill Jr will take the valuable spare in the Haydock feature with Heskin likely to be out for around a month.
Heskin is stable jockey to Tom George and retained by owner Max McNeill.
McNeill said: “Adrian unfortunately had a fall at Market Rasen on Thursday and has suffered a broken arm.
“He should be getting it operated on today and he’ll be a big loss to the team.
“We know the guys down at Oaksey House will get him back to full fitness and in the meantime the other jockeys that we use will be babysitting the horses for him.”
Heskin had also been in line to ride I K Brunel in the Grade 3 Handicap Hurdle and Ewood Park in the McNeill colours at Haydock.
Welsh trainer Vaughan said: “Adrian rode for us up at Market Rasen and I think he’s broken his arm unfortunately.
“He’s a top lad and I know he’ll be back as soon as he can.”
The news comes as a blow to Heskin who was forced to sit out much of the 2018/19 season.
He suffered a broken leg prior to the International Meeting at Cheltenham in December before also having his shoulder operated on.
Heskin had ridden 20 winners so far this season with The Butcher Said and Threeunderthrufive looking smart prospects.
