Jockey Ben Curtis still weighing up options after forced quarantine and 14 day ban following Newmarket incident

TOP northern jockey Ben Curtis is still weighing up an appeal over his two-week ban.

Curtis is currently in quarantine after breaking COVID protocols at Newmarket on Friday evening.

Curtis had hoped to challenge for the Flat Jockeys Championship but a two week ban all but ended his chances

The 31-year-old was escorted from the course and handed a 14-day ban after entering the owners area.

Curtis missed his one ride that evening and has since been out of action, although he has since tested negative for the virus.

He has yet to indicate if he will lodge an appeal, but has already missed a full book of rides across a busy Bank Holiday weekend and an estimated near £3000 in riding fees.

Curtis confirmed to Sun Racing: “We’re still weighing up all our options at the moment and they’re all on the table.”

The Professional Jockey’s Association (PJA) have requested more information from the stewards’ enquiry that took place at Newmarket on Friday.

In tandem with Curtis, an appeal could be lodged in the coming days if they decide to do so.

If successful, Curtis should be able to return to the saddle immediately.
