Jockey David Probert makes ‘luckiest escape ever’ after ‘horrendous accident’ at Windsor

Jockeys are made of sterner stuff.

They must be, because just days after a horrific accident at Windsor, David Probert will be back in the saddle.

David Probert will be back in the saddle on Wednesday

The accident occurred at Windsor on Monday night, where Probert was kicked by his intended mount Bits And Bobs in the parade ring.

Screens were put up around Probert while he was being attended to and he was then taken to Slough hospital for scans.

Thankfully, Probert tweeted that same night his X-rays had come back all clear.

Probert only suffered bruising and he’s obviously very keen to get back into the groove.

His agent Neil Allan told Sky Sports Racing: “I’ve spoken to David this morning and he is just bruised. All being well he will be back tomorrow.

“He won’t be riding today because he is bruised, but he was in good spirits when I spoke to him this morning.”

Probert, who is currently on a 36-ride losing sequence, did have rides at Brighton on Tuesday but was replaced.

It will be a busy evening at Kempton tomorrow night for Probert, who has a full book scheduled.

Probert has been a rising force in recent years, riding a career best tally of 169 winners in 2021.

The Welshman rides for a plethora of the sports biggest trainers including Andrew Balding, George Boughey and Hughie Morrison.

Group 1 glory has alluded him in his career to date but he’s ridden 11 Group 2 winners so far.
