Jockey David Probert receives urgent medical attention after being kicked by horse in ‘horrible incident’ at Windsor

JOCKEY David Probert received urgent medical attention ‘with screens up’ in the Windsor paddock after being kicked by a horse in a ‘horrible incident’.

Probert was due to ride Bits and Bobs in the 5.35pm race for trainer Andrew Balding.

Probert was the victim of a ‘serious incident’ in the Windsor parade ring after being kicked by a horse

But he was smacked by the two-year-old colt in what Sky Sports Racing presenter Sean Boyce described as a ‘serious incident’.

Sun Racing columnist Matt Chapman is reporting from the track and he said: “There has been a horrible incident.

“Imagine a horse kicking out and the sound it makes hitting a plastic railing – in this case it wasn’t the railing but a jockey.

“That was the noise that reverberated around Windsor.

“The screens are around him in the paddock here at Windsor.

“Before the screens were put up a doctor was with him and he moved his head.

“It was one of the nastiest moments I have ever witnessed.”

Chapman added after Perfect View won at 7-2 – some 15 minutes after the race was due off – that the screens around Probert had been removed.

Hopefully this was an indication his condition was improving although it remains to be seen if there will be any further details to the Monday night racing.

More to follow.
