A JOCKEY held at knife-point had his £80,000 Mercedes stolen in a terrifying middle-of-the-night ambush.

Jag Guthmann-Chester, a part-time model and amateur boxer, was sitting in his car when the attacker smashed a window in and dragged him out.

The rider had only recently posted a photo of his new car with personalised number plate

The jockey, 22, ran to a nearby car for help only for a ‘suspicious’ male to emerge and tell him: “Keep f***ing running c***.”

The harrowing ordeal occurred at 3.30am local time on the Gold Coast in Australia.

Guthmann-Chester, who has 234 career wins and more than £3.2million in prize money, had stopped for a coffee on his way to trackwork.

Police are hunting his Merc – with personalised ‘JAGGC’ number plate – and the car manufacturer have joined the chase as well.

A shaken Guthmann-Chester said: “I was on my way to trackwork at 3.30 in the morning and I stepped into Main Beach to get a coffee.

“I went to the 7-Eleven on Main Beach Parade to get it and then I went to Narrowneck Beach on the eastern side of the esplanade to drink it, I was only there for five minutes having a scroll on my phone.

“My car was still running and there was no one around at all and then out of nowhere I noticed a guy in a tracksuit with his face covered on the footpath near my car.

“I wound my window up and thought the car was locked.

“But before I had time to think he punched the driver’s window and made this huge crack.

“That was when I realised what was going on, and I’m looking at the male who is in my driver’s window.

KNIFE POINTED AT ME

“I tried to put my car in drive to drive off quickly but before I had time to do it, the door was opened and he leaned in the car and had a knife pointed at me.

“Then I saw a car about 100m away parked with its lights on, so I thought ‘how good is this, there is someone who can help me’.

“As I approached it a man jumped out of that car with a suspicious look as well and walked towards me.

“I kept my distance and then he yelled out saying, ‘what do you want mate?’

“I told him everything that just happened and he replied saying, ‘do you have a mobile phone on you?’

Police are searching for the car with assistance from Mercedes-Benz

“I said no because it’s in the car, so he kept saying ‘well keep f***ing running c***’.”

The jockey had posted a photo of the new car – believed to be a CLS 53 4Matic+ Coupe worth around £80,000 – to his Instagram just six months ago on the day he collected it.

The car can do 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph.

It is unlikely the thieves got too far as Guthmann-Chester kept the key on him the entire time, although his phone and wallet remained in the vehicle.

The car cannot be switched on again without the key.
