Jockey Richard Kingscote amazingly unhurt following dramatic fall during messy race at Lingfield after clipping heels

JOCKEY Richard Kingscote miraculously walked away unharmed from a dramatic incident at Lingfield Park.

His horse jinked severely to the right after the runner in front pushed outwards while travelling around the tight-bend.

Blessed To Empress tripped when clipping heels

The horse got loose and Kingscote was left on the floor

Kingscote could be seen getting to his feet steadily

Kingscote was left on the deck as his horse Blessed To Empress got loose after clipping heels with 80-1 shot Heer At Last.

Blessed To Empress stumbled badly and was nearly brought down himself, but it left Kingscote with no chance of clinging on.

The horse’s Trainer Amy Murphy reported both horse and jockey were fine after the incident.

As a safety precaution Kingscote was replaced on his one remaining ride for the day.

A stewards’ enquiry was carried out post-race and revealed that the incident was an accident.

A report said: “An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 4 furlongs out involving Heer At Last, unplaced, ridden by Lewis Edmunds, and Blessed To Empress, which unseated its rider, ridden by Richard Kingscote.

“Tom Marquand, the rider of Valentine Blues, placed eighth, was also present in the enquiry but found not to have been involved in the interference.

“The interference was found to be accidental as Blessed To Empress changed legs and in doing so shifted marginally left-handed and clipped the heel of Heer At Last.”

Punters took to Twitter after witnessing the incident live on At The Races.

One said: “Tough lads and lasses these jockeys, fair play to them.”

Another added: “This seems to be happening more and more often on the flat. What’s going on?!”
