Jockey rushed to hospital with ‘multiple’ leg break after being trampled by a horse just 24 hours after a victory

She posted an image of Nugent on Instagram alongside a caption that read: “Poor Hugh Nugent – the winners enclosure on Wednesday, a close second for us at Fontwell on Thursday, then a ride to Chichester Hospital with a multiple broken leg.

“A mount for another yard falls, and he is trampled by a passing back marker.”

Nugent had secured a win on Arqalina at Hereford on Wednesday before taking The Crooner to a second place at Fontwell on Thursday.

But he then fell while riding Just Henny later at Fontwell and was trampled.

And the racing world responded with best wishes.

One Instagram user wrote: “Speedy recovery Hugh. Head up you’ve a great future to look forward to.”

Another said: “Get better soon Hugh you are a top jockey and a legend speedy recovery.”

And another wrote: “So sorry to hear the news – sending all good wishes for his recovery – it’s a tough sport at times.”
