Jockeys Bryony Frost and Harry Cobden ‘both fine’ after horror falls at Aintree on Grand National day

STAR jockeys Bryony Frost and Harry Cobden have both escaped serious injury after a pair of horror falls on Grand National day.

Cobden missed the big race after he was rushed to hospital earlier on the card, while Frost was unshipped from Yala Enki in the main event.

Cobden was taken straight into an ambulance and off to a local hospital after his fall
Frost was going well on Yala Enki when the pair came down

Both jockeys were reportedly unconscious after their falls but soon came round and were whisked off to hospital.

The pair both ride for powerhouse trainer Paul Nicholls, and his assistant Harry Derham said: “Happy to report that both Harry & Bryony are both absolutely fine.

“A little battered & bruised but will to fight another day. Thank you for all the messages.”

Nicholls added: “Just seen Bryony she little stiff and sore but will hopefully be able to ride from the middle of next week and be fit to ride Frodon at Sandown.

Cobden starred in a Grade 1 double earlier in the week at Aintree

“Another positive update have just spoken to Harry and he is up and about and feeling ok and just a little sore.

“He will give an update in the next few days as to when he can ride again. Great News.”

Cobden, 22, came off Lucky One in a Grade 1 earlier in the card and missed his ride on Sir Alex Ferguson’s Give Me A Copper.

He was reported to have escaped with a couple of minor fractures to the face.

Frost, who was going well on Yala Enki in the National before they fell at the 20th fence, was also taken to nearby Aintree Hospital.

But she has appeared to also escape notable injuries with her dad and trainer Jimmy Frost, posting: “Just to let everyone know, B, is OK, in hospital under obs tonight.

“She has been fully checked out, a few days off.”

Nicholls and Cobden had enjoyed a brilliant week on Merseyside, mainly thanks to their success on the opening day with Clan Des Obeaux and the impressive Monmiral.

Nicholls continues to set the pace at the top of the trainers’ championship.

Irish trainer Henry De Bromhead shot into third after his Grand National first and second with Minella Times and 100-1 shot Balko Des Flos.
