NOT since Frankie Dettori’s flying dismount has a jockey celebration caused such a huge split in punter opinion.

But with the great man entering his final season, jumps jockey Dan Skelton looks to have trademarked his own unique move.

The Skelicopter sounded a great name for the jockey’s new handsfree move

Fair to say that not everyone is loving it though.

Some have labelled it ‘unbelievably cringey’ and ‘annoying and unnecessary’.

While one bright spark came up with the brilliant Skelicopter to describe the hands-free celebration.

What is for certain is we will be seeing it a heck of a lot more as the jumps season kicks into top gear.

Spearheaded by the likes of Gold Cup hope Protektorat, trainer Dan Skelton – Harry’s brother – has got his squad in top order.

Sir Alex Ferguson is among the owners hoping eight-year-old chaser Protektorat can win the biggest race of all at Cheltenham’s Gold Cup.

Then there are the likes of Langer Dan, joint favourite for the Martin Pipe, and Grand National fancy Ashtown Lad.

Not to mention Coral Gold Cup winner Le Milos and Shloer Chase hero Nube Negra.

All the big money races are still to be won and few trainer-jockey combos are in better shape than the Skeltons.

Though some might not be too fussed on his no-hands approaching passing the post.

One thought the theatrics were ’embarrassing’ while a load of others labelled it ‘the Meghan Markle’ celebration after the pose she struck in the new Netflix show.

But others put their brains to coming up with names Skelton might want to trademark.

One labelled it the ‘Skelicopter’ while another said it looked like ‘the Skelton swoosh’.

A punter said the ‘Skelterplane’ suited the move – and another said ‘winners wings’ would work.

A couple recommended ‘Harry-er jump jet’ – play on the harrier jump jet – while another thought it should be called the ‘Helter skelter’.
