John Gosden and Frankie Dettori out to re-write history books again as Stradivarius to face seven in Goodwood Cup

STAR stayer Stradivarius is strong odds-on to enter the racing history books in Tuesday’s Goodwood Cup.

John Gosden’s colt will face six rivals in the feature on Day 1, as he looks to pass Double Trigger’s record of three wins in the contest.

The bookies can’t see Frankie Dettori getting beat as he partners the six-year-old off the back of his Gold Cup demolition.

Betfair have Stradivarius as the 1-2 jolly, with Aidan O’Brien’s Irish Derby winner Santiago at 9-4 – a new challenger for Stradivarius.

The three-year-old gets over a stone from Stradivarius due to the age allowances, but has stamina to prove.

According to the layers it’s a two-horse race, with Nayef Road and Spanish Mission back in at 16 and 18-1 respectively.

Euchen Glen (100-1) and Who Dares Wins (50-1) complete the field for Tuesday’s feature.
