Jonbon into 2-1 for the Arkle after thrashing Monmiral in hugely impressive debut over fences at Warwick

JONBON has been cut into 2-1 for the Arkle after a hugely impressive debut over fences.

The £570,000 full brother to Douvan hardly put a foot wrong when thrashing the highly-rated Monmiral at Warwick.

Jonbon hardly put a foot wrong on a really impressive chasing debut

Paddy Power and Betfair cut the Nicky Henderson-trained superstar from 7-2 for success at next year’s Festival.

Winning jockey Aidan Coleman said: “Very straightforward. Jumped very well and won nicely, it’s great.

“Monmiral is a very good horse and we were only a few pounds clear of him in ratings

“You wouldn’t have thought it would be the one-horse race people were making out it would be but we won well.

“It’s everything I wanted to see.

“He walked round the preliminaries super, went down to start easy and jumped super, we’re very happy.”

Coral also made Jonbon 2-1 favourite and spokesperson Lewis Knowles said: “You couldn’t help but be impressed by Jonbon today on his chase debut.

“He jumped well, travelled powerfully and put two high-class horses to the sword this afternoon.

“As a result he’s now an even warmer favourite for the Arkle.”
