BILLIONAIRE racing magnate JP McManus has recorded his first winner since the shock death of his daughter-in-law.
Irish tycoon McManus dramatically scratched ALL his UK and Ireland runners after Emma’s tragic passing at the age of 40.
The tight-knit family had been enjoying a family holiday at their luxury Sandy Lane resort in Barbados when she passed away after falling ill at the end of last month.
But the McManus-owned Flight Deck gave them one small reason to smile after storming to victory at Bangor.
The 9-2 shot was first past the post in the 2.50 race at the Welsh track.
And winning jockey Jonjo O’Neill Jr paid a poignant tribute to McManus and the family after their loss.
He said: “I’m delighted to get the win for JP and Noreen [JP’s wife].
“There was a family tragedy with Emma and we’re all thinking about John [JP’s son].
“It was a travesty. Noreen bred this horse herself so it’s an emotional one.”
More to follow.
