King George winner Bryony Frost reveals ‘someone is pretending to be me’ after fake Twitter account created

KING George winner Bryony Frost has revealed a new Twitter account set up in her name is a fake.

The top jock rode shock 20-1 winner Frodon to success in the big race at Kempton Park on Boxing Day.

Frost became the first female rider to win the King George

Later that evening, an account appeared on Twitter with the handle @FrostBryony, which posted: “I’m now on Twitter!”

The following morning, a second post read: “Couldn’t put into words how special it was yesterday to win the King George on Frodon.”

The account quickly gained traction and had gained over 5,000 followers in a matter of hours.

But the real Frost was alerted to the hoax – and took to Instagram to reveal it was someone impersonating her.

She posted: “Can you guys help spread this word…

“I’ve someone pretending to be me on Twitter… mind blown!

“I am only on Instagram, no other social media!”

The fake account was quickly taken down from Twitter after Frost’s plea.

Frost alerted her followers on Instagram that the Twitter account was a fake

But Frost received plenty of positive attention on social media after her big-race heroics.

She said: “My world has been turned upside down the last 24 hours.

“I couldn’t keep up with my phone on the way home trying to reply to all the messages I was receiving.

“I just about got round to watching a replay of the race about half 10 – but I burnt my pizza which wasn’t so enjoyable!”

The jockey, 25, became the first female rider to win the King George, one of a number of records she has broken during her career.

Victory at Kempton was her 175th under Rules, making her the winning-most female rider over jumps of all-time in Britain.

She also became the first female to ride a Grade 1 winner at the Cheltenham Festival – again on her old pal Frodon in the Ryanair Chase in 2019.
