Ladies Day at Epsom hit by driving rain forcing glamorous racegoers to take cover

PUNTERS all dressed up for Ladies Day at Epsom have been made to duck for cover as the rain pours over the Surrey course.

With 4,000 racegoers allowed to attend today’s meet, everything was set for a beautiful day at Epsom.

Racegoers still brought the glamour this Ladies Day

The UK has been scorched by warm weather this week, with summer appearing to finally be on the horizon.

But attendees of Ladies Day have been brought back down to Earth with a bang.

As they arrived at the famous racecourse, they were greeted by a miserable grey sky and persistent drizzle.

And temperatures are significantly down on the rest of the week.

But that hasn’t stopped revellers painting on a smile and having a good time.

Some dolled-up ticket holders had to run for cover.

While others opened up their umbrellas and got on with enjoying themselves.

Members of staff on the other hand, went for the less glamorous option of donning their trusty ponchos.

Among the fans in attendance, an array of colourful dresses and marvellous headwear could frequently be seen.

Nothing would help improve the mood in the drizzle like a few winners.

And our man Templegate has all the best tips for this afternoon’s runners.

The Epsom Oaks takes place at 4:30pm later today.

While tomorrow fans can enjoy the Epsom Derby itself.
