Legendary Trainer Sir Mark Prescott Denies Cheating After Astonishing Win

Veteran Trainer's Masterclass

Legendary trainer Sir Mark Prescott has once again proved his expertise with a stunning 27-length win by his horse Golden Shot, leaving punters shocked. The 75-year-old trainer paired the progressive three-year-old with jockey Frederick Daly, who celebrated his winning first ride. This victory is another example of Prescott's exceptional skill in placing horses in winnable races, using hidden gem jockeys with weight claims.

Prescott's Winning Formula

Prescott, known for his methodical approach, revealed his tactics in an interview with Racing Post. He emphasized the importance of buying the right type of horses that flourish with age. Addressing skepticism of his success, Prescott stated that accusations of cheating were unfounded. He explained, "Nobody can say I'm cheating because the horse has been thoroughly exposed and everybody knows what sort of horse he is."

Risk and Reward

Prescott admitted that throwing horses like Golden Shot into challenging races is an "act of faith" in hopes of seeing improvement. Despite initial disappointment in their form as two-year-olds, many of Prescott's horses, including Golden Shot, thrive when handicapped.

Punters' Pleasure and Praise

Punters were surprised and delighted by Golden Shot's dominant performance at Ffos Las. The horse was heavily backed and many Twitter users joked that betting on him was like "buying money." Fans also applauded Daly's skill in the saddle, describing it as a fantastic start to his racing career.

A Racing Veteran's Lifestyle

Before his Arc de Triomphe victory with Alpinista in 2022, Prescott opened up about his daily routines and habits. He used to smoke 10 cigars a day but has since quit, and he lives on his own, waking up at 4am every day to focus on his training. As a testament to his dedication, Prescott's success in the racing world has spanned decades, with his first Group 1 win back in 1996.
