Listen to commentator’s hilarious horse race call as he moans ‘I literally cannot see a thing’ during massive downpour

THIS is the hilarous moment a poor horse racing commentator moans ‘I literally cannot see a thing’ as he tries his best to call the action during a monumental downpour.

Credit to unlucky Robert Fox for doing his best in abysmal conditions at Ruidoso Downs racecourse in New Mexico, US.

This was all the poor commentator could see as he tried his best to call the action
It was only after the race that the horses actually became visible

The winner eventually came into sight at the finish post – much to the commentator’s relief

Rain absolutely pelted down during the fourth race on the card.

That made is basically impossible for Fox to see anything that was happening – even with the help of TV screens next to him.

The cracking video records Fox trying his best to describe what was going on – although it was all guesswork until the very end.

Fox’s commentary goes like this…

“This is the worst [rain] I’ve seen for thoroughbred racing here, I can’t see a thing.

“Literally, I cannot see a thing.

“The timer is going so we have a race underway… but I cannot see where they are or what they are doing.

“The timer just went out as well.

Connections celebrate victory… just a shame they couldn’t see it

“I’m still trying to pick them up. I can’t see a thing.

“The only thing I can see is a flag flying on the infield.

“This is the worst spell [of weather] I have seen.

“The timer is reading 28 seconds, but it did go out so I don’t know if it’s functionng correctly.

“I have a lot of water coming off the booth now.”

It seems a totally hopeless situation until Fox then exclaims: “I can see them now! I can’t make them out though.

“There is a lone leader though! The others are well back.

“Whoever this is is going to win, and win easily.

“It looks like the three horse… Lemon Drop Gold is going to win in an historic downpour!”

The rest of the card was unsurprisingly abandoned given the hellish conditions.

Fox said afterwards: “I knew when there was a solid quarter time running, the race had to be going.

“From there it was just trying to pick up a horse, like a ‘shark watcher’.

“I think you can hear the excitement in my voice when I finally spotted the first horse.”

At least he didn’t have to put up with any impossible names like this caller.
