LIVERPOOL hero Jordan Henderson has revealed his daughters have been inspired by top-jockey Hollie Doyle.
The sport stars met at the SPOTY awards this weekend, where Henderson finished runner-up to Lewis Hamilton with Doyle in third.
Doyle was the only female nominated for the award and the first jockey since AP McCoy to be shortlisted.
After a record-breaking 2020 Doyle’s antics, – which included a Royal Ascot winner and a 899-1 five-timer at Windsor – Henderson’s daughters have taken inspiration.
Henderson posted on his Instagram: “Taking inspiration from @HollieDoyle7”, with a picture of his kids on a pair of ponies.
Only on Tuesday Doyle, 24, brought up yet another milestone as she rode her 150th winner of the calendar year, another new record.
The racing community attempted to boost Hollie’s chances in the SPOTY award with a #VoteHollie campaign.
And why she failed to beat Hamilton and Henderson she has boosted her profile massively and reached new audiences for herself and racing.
She said: “It felt unbelievable but felt like it wasn’t for myself but for our industry as a whole, which I’m proud to be part of.
“Things like this don’t happen to people like me. I’m just honoured to be where I am.”
And Doyle doesn’t want her growing momentum to stall just yet.
In response to being quizzed on her hopes of becoming Champion Jockey, she added: “I’ll give it a go and try as hard as I can.
“Hopefully I’ll be in that position one day, whether it’s next year or the year after. I’ll keep trying as hard as I can.”
