EX-England footie star Michael Owen broke down “in tears” after a 25-year-old woman suddenly collapsed and died at his stables.

The tragedy happened on Tuesday morning at the Manor House Stables in Malpas, Cheshire.

Emergency services attended the racing yard after the woman fell ill around 8.50am, but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, Cheshire Police said.

Officers said the death is not being treated as suspicious and her next of kin have been informed.

Tributes flooded in following the tragedy, with one woman revealing she had seen Michael Owen “in tears”.

Writing on Facebook, she said: “So sad seeing him and all his staff in tears today, after such a shock to them, such a young age.”

In statement, Manor Farm Stables paid tribute to the 25-year-old who was a “much valued member” of the yard.

They said: “It is with deep sadness that we have to announce that a much-valued member of our team died at work this morning.

“The family have been informed and both the family and the team at Manor House request privacy at this time.”

Hundreds of other’s paid their own tributes, with one former colleague saying: “A lovely, pleasant person to have worked with! RIP.”

While another said: “Sad day, very sad condolences to everyone and best wishes to the whole team.”

A third added : “Sincerest condolences to all connected and affected.”

While a fourth said: “Just tragic news and thoughts to all family and friends.”

The purpose built stables were constructed in 2006 as a training facility for horse racing enthusiast Michael Owen, 43, and his family.

His daughter, Love Island star Gemma, is a keen equestrian who competes for Great Britain in dressage.

In a statement, Cheshire Police said: “At around 8.50am today, police were made aware that a 25-year-old woman had collapsed at a stables on Old Coach Road, Malpas.

“Emergency services attended the location and, despite the best efforts of all those involved, the woman sadly died at the scene.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and her next of kin have been informed. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
