MINDLESS vandals destroyed Worcester racecourse in a sickening overnight attack that left staff in tears.
A video of the damage done to the weighing room ahead of Wednesday’s racing was shared online.
The clip showed the devastation wrought, with the caption reading: “We have no printable words and barely any speakable words.”
A woman talking behind the camera showcases the damage and brands the attackers: “Absolute mindless pond life.”
She says: “So this is Worcester’s weighing room that has been attacked overnight by absolute mindless pond life.
“They’ve destroyed all of the shelf scheme that jockeys use and they’ve just kicked the place to pieces.
“The team have their heads in their hands, and rightly so.
“We feel like crying. But we’ll pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and put it all together for racing next week.
“Not that easy running a racecourse at times, everybody.”
A post from Worcester’s Twitter account confirmed the vandals were filmed on CCTV and the matter has been passed to the police.
Shocked racing fans volunteered to come and tidy it all up.
One said: “This is awful. What is wrong with people!? If you need an extra pair of hands tidying up, I’d be happy to come help.”
Another posted: “Let me know if you need any volunteer help to clear up. Can’t believe the mindset of people to do this, absolutely disgusting.”
‘SCUMBAGS’
Punters in general were shocked by the footage.
One said: “That’s utterly disgusting.”
Another commented: “So sorry to see this. Mindless vandalism.”
A fellow user wrote: “Makes me feel physically sick that people think it’s right to behave in this manner!”
One post read simply: “Scumbags.”
And another comment said: “Horrendous. You have made such an effort to get racing going again and you don’t deserve this.”
