IT is fair to say 2020 will be a year none of us will forget – no matter how hard we try.

But amid all the doom and gloom were some incredible moments thrown up by the world of racing.

2020 was full of false starts – including this one at Newcastle

Here, we go through the best of the thrills and spills from another action-packed year.

300-1 winner

He Knows No Fear made jaws drop, the odd bookie cry and history remember his name when hbecoming the biggest-priced winner ever.

The 300-1 shot surged to victory under Chris Hayes at Leopardstown in August.

Four horse photo finish

A dramatic photo finish between two runners is usually enough to fray the nerves of punters.

So imagine the blood pressure when it’s four.

That’s what happened in Doncaster in July, with Adam Kirby’s Notforalongtime getting the win.

Still, at least this one was judged in clear daylight, unless this farce at Cheltenham in November.

This photo finish at Cheltenham was deemed a dead heat – but how could anyone tell?

Goshen’s fall

Jamie Moore looked all set for glory on the biggest stage of all when his ride held a healthy lead at the last in the JCB Triumph Hurdle.

But hearts sank when Goshen faltered at the last, clipped his own heels and unseated Moore on Gold Cup day at Cheltenham.

False start farce

Punters (well, most of them) were left absolutely livid when seven horses were withdrawn from a Newcastle race following a shambolic false start.

Pre-race favourite Klopp was the only one still at the start as all the others hurtled down the track.

But instead of voiding the race, it was decided it should be run.

Unsurprisingly Klopp sauntered to victory after all the others had already run a race.

From chump to Champ

Barry Geraghty got an absolutely incredible finish from Champ to deny Minella Indo and Allaho in a scarcely believable final furlong in the RSA Chase.

The 4-1 shot came from nowhere to land the spoils after looking totally out of it.

Doyle’s 899-1 five-timer

One winner is good. Two excellent. Three stunning. Five?

Well you have to ask Hollie Doyle.

The breakthrough jockey of 2020 recorded her amazing feat at Windsor in August.
