Top Class Racing Action
This weekend is set to be a star-studded affair with some top-class horse racing action. The lineup includes horses like Shaquille, Tahiyra, Homeless Songs, Auguste Rodin, and more.
On a personal note, I'm most excited to see Kyprios in action. This Aidan O'Brien-trained stayer has been off the track for 344 days, but I'm hopeful that he can defend his crown in Sunday's Group 1 Comer Group International Irish St Leger. Kyprios has proven himself with impressive performances in last year's Ascot Gold and Goodwood Cups.
City Of Troy is another horse to watch out for. This unbeaten horse trained by Aidan O'Brien will try to maintain his record in the Group 1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes. With his pedigree and early success, he looks like a future Classic hero.
Auguste Rodin's Challenge
O'Brien's Derby hero Auguste Rodin is set to face off against King Of Steel for the third time in this afternoon's Group 1 Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes. Auguste Rodin will be looking to avenge his previous defeat at Ascot, but he'll face tough competition.
Luxembourg, another horse from O'Brien's stable, shouldn't be discounted either. He was fourth in the King George and has proven himself at this distance before. He could potentially surprise us in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
Haydock's Betfair Sprint Cup
The Group 1 Betfair Sprint Cup at Haydock is definitely the highlight of the day. Shaquille, who had a rough start at Royal Ascot and Newmarket but still managed to win, will be aiming for another top-level success. However, Sacred, trained by William Haggas, could be a dark horse in this race.
