New 4Racing fundraising campaign to give help to yards and stable staff

4Racing is going above and beyond during the Covid-19 Crisis.

In conjunction with Racing Welfare, the brand new initiative is giving support to yards and stable staff who need help the most.

The 4Racing campaign will help stables and stable staff under financial pressure

Launched by Ian Griffiths and Graham Arnold of the Racing Info Bureau, the fundraising campaign aims to collect as much money as possible for the backbone of the racing world.

With the sport behind closed doors for the foreseeable future and with plenty of stables under pressure to make ends meet, the scheme has partnered up with Racing Welfare to make life that little bit easier.

Members of the public can make contributions via the 4Racing website, via Gofundme, or on social media.

Alongside voluntary donations, the campaign is also offering people the chance to own shares in two racehorses – one in the UK, and one in Ireland.

The horses will run under the ‘4Racing’ banner as part of the 4Racing Owners Club, with successful applicants given the chance to experience all the benefits of racehorse ownership – including stable visits and trips to the races.

Trainer Rebecca Menzies will take the reins in Britain, with Katy Brown doing the steering in Ireland.

In both cases, any share surplus and prize-money will go to charity.

Project co-founder Ian Griffiths said: “There will be around 100 shares available for each horse.

“Most ownership schemes require a payment up front but we’re giving people the chance to pay monthly, just to make things more affordable.

“Costs will be in the region of £30 per month and there will be visits to the trainers’ yards, as well as opportunities to see the horse race at the track.

“We’ve also brought Derek Thompson on board as a brand ambassador and we’re looking forward to seeing him speak at various events for our owners.”
