NEWCASTLE are expected to race on next week despite the north-east going into lockdown.
The track hosts two meetings next week – on Tuesday and Friday – but will continue behind closed doors.
With COVID cases on the rise in the region, the Gosforth Park fixtures could have come under threat.
But Arena Racecourse (ARC) officials and those at Newcastle are confident the two fixtures will not be moved.
However, the meetings may be held completely behind closed doors as was the case when the sport first resumed. This means owners are likely to be banned from the track.
Tuesday’s evening seven-race fixture gets underway at 5.10 with Friday’s card also an evening meet.
