Newmarket preview: Latest odds as James Ferguson dreams of first £300K Group 1 with stable star Mise En Scene

TRAINER James Ferguson is confident he can cause a Scene at Newmarket tomorrow.

He fields his second ever Group 1 runner in the Bet365 Fillies’ Mile when his Mise En Scene takes on eight rivals.

Champion jockey will get the leg up on Mise En Scene for Friday’s feature worth £300k to the winner

The Qatar Racing-owned filly is unbeaten in two starts and will be partnered by Oisin Murphy once more.

Ferguson said: “She’s unbeaten and we intend to keep it that way! We’re confident of a big run.

“I think the extra furlong is going to suit her perfectly and we know she handles the track, she had a nice gallop on the course recently.”

Son of former jumps trainer and bloodstock ace John Ferguson, Ferguson junior hopes his filly can help start his journey to the top.

He added: “She’s a very nice filly, very straightforward and the ground should be perfect.

“This is what it’s all about, to be involved in these races with exciting horses is what we get into the sport for.

“Hopefully I can reward the owners who have trusted me with her and we have a top horse to campaign for some time to come. It’s very exciting.

“I’m trying not to get carried away and have to remind myself it’s one step at a time with her.

“It would obviously be a dream to win a Group 1 but I don’t want to think about that as I know how hard they are to win.”

The sponsors make her 6-1 second favourite behind odds-on Inspiral, trained by John and Thady Gosden.

Inspiral is one of two runners in the race for the Gosden team alongside stablemate Bouquet, who arrives on the back of a victory on her most start at Ascot.

Meanwhile Jessica Harrington brings Magical Lagoon over from Ireland and Aidan O’Brien relies on Concert Hall as he aims for a sixth win in the race.

The field is completed by the Ralph Beckett-trained Prosperous Voyage, last month’s Rockfel Stakes runner-up Cachet from the George Boughey yard and Wild Beauty and Majestic Glory, who will fly the flag for Charlie Appleby and Andrew Balding respectively.
