The Future of Jumps Racing Star Constitution Hill Remains Uncertain
The future of jumps racing's rising star, Constitution Hill, continues to hang in the balance, with trainer Nicky Henderson unsure of the next step for the talented gelding.
Punters' Hopes Dashed as Chasing Unlikely for Grade 1 Winner
Despite pleas from eager punters, Nicky Henderson has indicated that chasing is an improbable path for Constitution Hill, who has clinched victory in six Grade 1 races.
Impressive Campaign Leaves Punters Hoping for a Switch to Fences
After an outstanding season that included triumphs in the Fighting Fifth, Christmas Hurdle, Champion Hurdle, and Aintree Hurdle, fans of Constitution Hill have been eagerly anticipating his switch to fences.
However, it seems their wish might not come true as Henderson will only consider sending him over fences under one condition.
The Decision is Yet to Be Made
Henderson revealed to Newbury Today, "We'll announce what we're doing next week. We're still weighing up our options. We won't send Constitution Hill (over fences) unless we're as sure as can be that he's going to stay three-and-a-quarter miles. There's no point switching to fences just to win the Champion Chase now, because you might as well win the Champion Hurdle again."
With the decision still pending, there is plenty of excitement and anticipation surrounding the next move for the talented hurdler.
Henderson Prefers Keeping Constitution Hill in Two-Mile Division
It comes as no surprise that Henderson would rather keep Constitution Hill competing in the two-mile division over hurdles. After all, Henderson has an impressive record in the Champion Hurdle, having won it a remarkable nine times with See You Then, Punjabi, Binocular, Buveur D'Air, and Epatante among his champions.
Odds on Constitution Hill's Next Targets
Constitution Hill is currently priced at 4-6 to win the 2024 Champion Hurdle and at 5-2 for the Arkle.
