Punters joke ‘how many pints have they had?’ as racegoers spark chaos in amazing interview

JOCKEY Mikey Sheehy couldn’t stop smiling as his sensational post-race interview descended into total chaos.

And it was all thanks to a Real Madrid footballer.

Jockey Sheehy was mobbed as he made his way back after winning on the Real Madrid star’s horse

One punter roared in front of camera as others celebrated behind

Sheehy tried to keep a straight face as scenes of chaos unfolded behind

Sheehy steered right-back Alvaro Odriozola’s horse Maxux to victory at Gowran Park in Ireland on Sunday.

The three-year-old filly was making her debut and sprung a shock demolishing rivals to win by more than four lengths at 12-1.

Real and Spain star Odriozola, 27, tasted Copa del Rey success last month with the legendary side.

There was no trophy for this win – just a cheque for around £8,000.

Not that it bothered those punters who looked to have had it right off by backing the winner.

Sheehy was mobbed by racegoers as he made his way back to the weighing room.

And his interview with Racing TV presenter Gary O’Brien didn’t last long because it was drowned out by noise from fans.

One screamed behind the jockey during his walk back before appearing again later on sticking out his tongue and celebrating.

Another roared in front of camera as those in stitches watching at home asked: “How many pints have they had?”

After watching the joyous scenes, another viewer said: “The benchmark has been set in how to celebrate a winner.”

While one commented: “Racing needs more of this, bloody brilliant!”

Maxux, a daughter of Frankel who cost 200,000 guineas, is sister to Cunco, the Group Three winner who was the first runner the legendary horse ever had.

Joseph O’Brien’s assistant trainer Brendan Powell reckons she has a big future ahead.

He said: “She is very relaxed and chilled out at home. She is a typical Frankel.

“She has got an engine, will stay further and Mikey said he thinks she could be pretty smart.

“She loved the ground and will stay up to a mile-and-a-half no problem.

“We will try and get a bit of black type with her and she will be a nice broodmare prospect for her owner down the line.

“Alvaro’s big passion is breeding so hopefully this is a smart one for him.”
