PUNTERS were left licking their wounds after being stung to the tune of £14,000 when a horse who simply couldn’t lose… lost.

In one of the most remarkable finishes you will see this or any season, Doyen Ta Win somehow finished second after going 15 lengths clear.

Doyen Ta Win looked home and hosed after jumping the last but…

Loup De Tallane, who looked shattered and beaten, sprouted wings after the last to nut the longtime leader at the post.

But there must have been something about the hurdles track at Wexford in Ireland he loved because he looked a fast-finishing superstar last Sunday.

Jockey Gavin Brouder was the man who pulled off the miracle in the saddle.

And Griffin, perhaps tongue-in-cheek, said it was nothing more than a ‘well-timed run’.

He told the Racing Post: “We’ll have to call it a well-timed run!

“Turning for home there were some choice words being spoken but it’s brilliant that we got there. It was a very exciting finish.

“I wasn’t sure if he’d love the ground but otherwise I would have been confident he’d run a nice race because he was in good order.”

Punters were left stunned at the outcome, which got more unbelievable with each replay.

One joked it was ‘scandalous stuff’ while another said to his mate: “No doubt we’d have been on the one that got beaten.”
