Racehorse sold after ‘abnormally large testicles’ blamed for poor form following just one win in 15 races

A RACEHORSE’S ‘abnormally large testicles’ are being blamed for his poor form.

And his owner has sold him because his big balls make it hard to run.

Morethannumberone was put up for sale because his ‘abnormally large testicles’ made it hard for him to run

Morethannumberone – originally bought for a hefty £212,000 – managed just one win in 15 starts for trainers Gary and John Moore.

They hoped a move from Australia to the lucrative racing circuit of Hong Kong would work out but it wasn’t to be.

Owner Barry Lee has decided now is the right time to sell – and let it all hang out in the sales description of his well endowed four-year-old.

It read: “Morethannumberone has been a model of consistency this preparation with plenty more to give to his new connections.

“His current owner has elected to go to auction with Morethannumberone as he has not qualified for Hong Kong importation.

“Having been reluctant to geld Morethannumberone, it is believed that his new connections may reap the reward from the removal of his abnormally large testicles, that have been deemed to cause restriction.

“Morethannumberone is straight forward to train, clean limbed and rarely will leave feed.

“He has performed and trained well, and without any hinderance, with the utilisation of a tongue tie and cross-noseband.”

John Moore said they thought it best to be totally honest with buyers about the size of the horse’s gonads.

He told the Sydney Morning Herald: “We’re in the business of building a brand and we think transparency is the No1 thing we need to do to build that brand.

“He is a lovely horse and if he gets gelded, we think there is a lot of improvement left in him.

“We just wanted people to know that and whether he’s with us or someone else I’m sure the next owner will have a lot of fun.”

Trainer Costa has purchased the horse and will run him again before gelding him

The plan is for Morethannumberone to eventually have his testicles removed after being bought for a relative snip at £16,000.

Castrated horses are known as geldings.

Moore added: “We have found that his best runs for us have been when he relaxes and we will be sharing that with his new owners. He will be a different horse as a gelding.”

Trainer Michael Costa, who is based on the Gold Coast in Australia, purchased Morethannumberone.

He said: “We’ll see if we can squeeze a win before he goes to the paddock to geld.”
